CalOptima: Principles of Health Care for the Homeless and Housing First

Description
This course explores the philosophy and practice of health care for the homeless, including what makes addressing health concerns and accessing health care challenging for people experiencing homelessness. The course will explore models of care delivery within health care for the homeless, and why it is so important to ask people about their housing status. The concept of housing first is closely related to the health care for the homeless approach and will be explored through: defining housing first and its benefits, understanding what housing first looks like in practice, and how service providers can help prepare people to transition from homelessness into housing.
