Description
Trauma results from an event or series of events that an individual experiences as physically or emotionally harmful or threatening and has lasting effects on a person’s functioning and wellbeing. Trauma is common in the general population and even more so among people who are unhoused, and the experience of homelessness is often traumatic. By understanding trauma, service providers can prevent retraumatization of individuals and support healing. This one-hour presentation explores sources and effects of trauma, the importance of trauma informed care, and how to incorporate trauma informed principles in your work.
